Artist's Bio: About Sadie WangSadie Wang, a Niche Award 2000, 2003, 2005, 2011 and 2014 Winner, has shown her work in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore as well as across the USA. Known for her narrative hollowware, she also makes wearable, uniquely designed jewelry that is absolutely a pleasure to own. Wang was born and raised in Taipei Taiwan and had come to the U.S. for her college education. She received her B. A. at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN in 1995 and her M.F.A. at Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills MI in 1997. After receiving her Master degree, she went to Singapore helped starting a Metal and Jewelry program at Nan-Yang academy of Fine Arts. While she was there she was invited to be a guest speaker and participated in an international group show ”Shifting Paradigm” at the Singapore Art Museum. In 1999 she was invited as a visiting artist to the Appalachian Center for the Crafts, Tennessee Technological University. She then became the Artist-in-Residence in the department of Metalsmithing for the year 1999-2000. During that year, she entered numerous national and international competition exhibitions. In 2000, she had her first solo exhibition at the Yaw Gallery; Birmingham MI. The review of the show was published in the Metalsmith Magazine Show Reviews, Jan/Feb issue 2001. Through her outstanding record of artistic achievement, she applied to be a US Permanent Resident and received approval from the US Immigration Naturalization Services as “Alien of Extraordinary Ability” in Feb 2002. She currently owns and operates her own studio in Baxter, TN. Her work is currently available online and in several well-known galleries in the country. |
